“I Need Faith” Pairs a Redemption Narrative with a Video Built Around Stillness

Alex Jean released “I Need Faith” in May 2024 and followed it with an official video in December. Holy Culture describes the song as a first-person movement from entrapment and inner turmoil toward truth, love and grace, while the visual contrasts surrounding chaos with stillness in God’s presence.

By the video’s December release, Holy Culture reported that the track had passed four million Spotify streams. The official visual provides a concrete extension of the song’s spiritual-struggle narrative rather than a separate promotional concept.

The Holy Culture Interview Connects Jean’s Prolific Release Run to Rodney Jerkins and Alienz Alive

In a Kingdom Building Conversations interview, Jean said he began releasing Christian hip-hop in 2022 after growing up playing guitar in an Orlando church family and listening across dubstep, classical and jazz. Holy Culture counted roughly 35 songs in his first 18 months of releases and discussed how that pace led him to seek management rather than continue handling every part of the work alone.

Jean also discussed working with producer Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins. In June 2024, Jerkins publicly unveiled Alienz Alive with Jean among a five-artist roster alongside Jon Keith, GAWVI, IMRSQD and TJ Carroll; Jerkins characterized the company as a Christ-centered creative community focused on artist development across hip-hop, R&B and indie rock.
